#305: Stormy Sunset Images from Highway 395 South of Bishop

Roma, Penny and I came up Highway 395 on Sunday as this storm was settling in again and it was a beautiful evening.

We pulled over to shoot several times along the way and saw one of the best sunsets we’ve seen in a while near Big Pine.

There are also a few shots here from the trip south, with clouds looming over the mountains near Independence, windmills south of Mojave and vibrant colors near Red Rock Canyon.

That’s all we’ve got today. The blog has been a little slow this month because we’re working on a huge Mammoth Mountain archival project. It’s just getting started but we’re in the process of scanning and digitizing a huge collection of video and photos from the mountain. We’ll be posting from that as we go, as well as new photos from our adventures. Have a great week.

Thanks.

#304: Thanksgiving 2012 with the McCoy Family in Bishop

We had a great Thanksgiving week with friends and family here in Bishop.

It’s a beautiful time of year in the Eastern Sierra and we spent a lot of time close to the ranch.

It’s hard to tell if it’s fall or winter here right now, my guess is somewhere in between. We’ve still got some beautiful fall foliage at the house but the mountains are covered in snow.

We went on some short Rhino rides into the hills above the house and out toward the backyard motocross track.

Roma and I hope your Thanksgiving was as great as ours. Everybody we talk to says the skiing is excellent and there’s a big storm on the way. It’s a much better start than last year.

Keep enjoying.

-Dave

Here’s a beautiful sunset on the White Mountains.
We’ve got a lot of color left in the backyard. Winter seems to have moved in but the yard hasn’t noticed.
Here’s a sunset over the Sierras, specifically Humphrey, Basin and the Bishop Creek Basin.
There’s Mt. Tom from the backyard.
This is how Gary gets out to enjoy November in Bishop.
Here are Roma and I with Barry, Kandi and Cori.
It’s tough to get a good photo of a black dog but Sage was in the right spot.
Here is our backyard. It’s usually full of ducks but they were off having a Thanksgiving feast.
Anybody remember Mammoth’s 714 area code?
