#275: Photos from The 2012 Mammoth Motocross

The Mammoth Motocross is an event that brings back great memories for me.

I started it in 1968 with Don Rake, Bobby Cooper and a few others, and we ran it for many years. At 44-years-old, it’s the oldest continuous-running motocross in the country and attracts some of the world’s best riders.

I raced in it until I was 83.

Our granddaughter Lindsi was there throughout the week to capture the action and we thought we’d share it here with you.

She did a great job catching the race and the atmosphere. She covered most of the track as well as a lot of the scene in the parking area.

This will be the first of two posts. Check back for the second sometime in the next few days.

A Small Hello from France,
Today Wednesday, July 4, In the United States, celebration of the National Holiday of Independence. Treaty signed in 1776, following the American revolution, declaring the United States independent from the Kingdom of Great Britain. Great moment of the American history. Good Day Independence with its various commemorations!
In France, the National Holiday is on July 14th, dates from the “storming of the Bastille” by the Parisian people at the time of the French revolution in 1789. This holiday marks the victory of the insurrectionists, the end of “the kingship and of the absolute monarchy”, with the passage to a “constitutional monarchy”.
Bye.

She truly did a teriffic job with all of these photos. I’ll try not to miss it next year. I’ve never raced but I sure do love riding my motorcycle out west as oppertunity allows.

This is a beautiful venue for this event. Bet you enjoy every minute you can of it! Looking forward to the second post and thank your granddaughter from all of us who enjoy these pictures.

#274: The Five-Year Anniversary of the Ground Breaking of the Mammoth Lakes Student Housing

It’s the five-year anniversary of the ground breaking of the student housing in Mammoth so we figured we’d post some shots from the ceremony.

It was a festive day that marked the beginning of a great project.

It’s been more successful than we could have ever imagined. It’s going to be completely full for the upcoming school year, and will be occupied by various groups for much of the summer.

This coming week is the Mammoth Lakes Food and Wine Experience, which will be a big fundraiser for the college. The student housing will be occupied throughout the event by employees and staff of various wineries and restaurants, so it’s getting lots of year-round use.

Speaking of the Food and Wine Experience, check out the website here to see some of the events. It’s going to be a great event that we hope will become an annual staple.

Thanks for checking in and thanks again to the community for all the support.
