Just a couple of requests as this is the most important and accurate website about the history of Mammoth and Dave McCoy I have ever visited. It is the real McCoy so to speak as it is so rare to actually hear from Mr. McCoy himself with no speculation or conjecture by others about Mammoth’s history.

Can you post vintage photos of Dave McCoy and others in action at the motorcross course during the 70s and 80s? Especially of Dave on his red Maico; he was incredibly fast, aggressive and agile in the berms and jumps. These events were so well organized and endorsed by Dave and staff, and it is hard to believe today that Mammoth locals could go out and ride our dirt bikes on such a world class track any time we wanted! Now the course is closed except for race days. I always wanted to take my daughter out there to ride around the track like I used to in the 70s…life changes with time I guess due to liability concerns etc.etc. Those were golden years in Mammoth!

Can Dave give some more information and accounts on how chair one was built with so little resources and equipment. For example how in the world did he line up the towers in straight line, dig holes for the foundation, pour cement, lower towers, install the top mechanicals, lift heavy cable etc. etc. on the side of gravey shoot? It reminds me of the Pyramids in Egypt, how did they do that? How did Dave do that? That is worthy of a book in itself that should be read by all college engineering students to show that sheer determination is a great deal of engineering innovation.

One last request, did Dave McCoy ever buy another Harley Davidson to tour around like he did in his earlier years? It seems he would have been a natural hooked on two wheelers and to take Roma for rides around the area on the newer Harley’s of today like the Road Kings etc., or was he too busy building up Mammoth during the summers?

Wow, again what a great insight to a great and legendary man! Keep it coming!

Fantastic photography Dave. I love that you are doing this, it gives me a way to be able to see what I am still missing everyday. Also allows me to see how you guys are doing. You look great, not that I expected any different. You still running down the backside of the mountain? I miss you guys and think of you often. My 10 years in Mammoth was a key part of my life, as were you, Dave and Roma. Thank you for being such good friends and mentors!
