#297: The First Snow of the Year in the Eastern Sierra at Pine Creek

Thursday was the first snow of the year here and we went up Pine Creek to see what it was like up high.

There was a nice layer of snow at about 9,000 feet that didn’t last long, but sure made for good photos while it lasted.

We went up to the gate at the mill, and then over toward the pack station.

There were some low-lying clouds hanging around the middle section of Wheeler Ridge and on several of the mountains further back in the canyon. It was a beautiful day and I hope we’ll have a lot more where that came from.

That’s all for today. We’ll be out and about a lot this week so stay tuned.

I just wanted to add that the lighting, composition and mood of these shots are perfect. The variety of shots and the flow is great. Beautiful work!

I have to say these are exceptional photos. I can’t thank you enough for getting them onto your site. I know I’ll be looking at these for days because you’ve captured so many reasons I love the Eastern Sierra. Looks like I’ll have to get out there again real soon. Pine Creek is a great place to hike and enjoy the Sierras. Thanks so very much Dave.
