#296: Fall Scenes from around Bishop and the Owens Valley

This weekend, after the storm had stopped and the sun returned, Roma and I went out on a cruise around the valley to check out the colors.

It still a tad bit early down low, but it’s moving farther into the Owens Valley every day. There are even a few lower-elevation spots that are looking great right now.

The rabbit brush is also everywhere right now. It makes is all sneeze but it sure does look great in photos.

Roma had a great time walking Boundary Road, toward the base of Wheeler Ridge, and I drove alongside her and took photos. We had a great time.

We’ve got a lot more coming. It’s an exciting time around here. We went up Pine Creek after the storm late last week and got some shots of the snowfall in the canyon. Roma and I also went on a short Rhino ride near Pleasant Valley and the Owens River which I’ve got some photos from as well. Come back soon.

These pictures sure are fun to look at. You selected a beautiful set for us all to look at. With all the wonderful photos you have taken it must be very hard to select only those you are going to put on your web site. The tree in the top picture sure looks happy to be out in the sun enjoying the day. Keep up the great work!

Dave I see your posts regularly, and am in awe of your photos. Your autumn colours are spectacular. I live in Christchurch, New Zealand. My husband and I visited Mammoth to ski in January this year, and have some wonderful memories of the slopes. That’s how we know about you! We have just finished our ski season here ‘Down Under’and are busy photographing blossom and early roses. Thank you for a wonderful website!

A small Hello from France,
Already several weeks that I did not write comment on your blog due to lack of time, but I come in regularly on this blog to view the photos of your Rhino rides.
At this beginning of autumn, the yellow recovers a large part of the valley. This tree confirms it, the green color becomes blurred, to leave the place to a large mass of yellow color. Very beautiful effect.
You have allergies, I reassure you, me too ! I confirm, this is very embarrassing and annoying.
Roma is very concentrated and she walks with a decided step. Although the hello at Roma !
The storm brought lots of snow on the peaks. This is good news for fans of snow sports.
On the picture representing the clouds, you would think that a painter has put a finishing touch. Cool !
I will return to the previous posts, in the next few days, write a comment. See you soon.
Bye. Patricia.
