We posted some video from this trip into the White Mountains a few weeks ago, and now we’ve got the photos all ready.
Here is a link to that video, as well as some of the back story.
It’s always a pleasure to run into these sheep. More often than not, we don’t see them up there. It takes a bit of luck.
This was the beginning of a long trip into the Whites and we’ll post photos from the rest of the day soon.
Meanwhile, I hope you all are enjoying the fall colors. The cold weather is here, and we may have some snow this week which always makes us happy. Get out and enjoy!

The big horns sheep of Sylver Canyon are of real tightrope walker. Before your eyes at all, they realized a great performance. As you say, it’s a chance to see them on your way !!!
I note that some have put their jewellery, earring and necklace. These pictures are superb. The fauna of the Eastern Sierra is surprising.

Hey Brad, good to hear from you!
That’s great you ran into them too. It definitely takes a little bit of luck.
My favorite lens is the 28-300, that’s what I use on almost everything. We also had a 500mm out there, but the 28-300 was enough for most of these.
Love the short depth-of-field on a few of those. What lens did you use?
I went up/down Silver about a week after your original post. I was hoping to catch a glimpse too. I came down around the corner in the tight narrows and encountered the whole herd! I got some nice group shots, but the 200mm just couldn’t get beautiful tight shot you captured. Nicely done!
